We are delighted to announce that we have a new Executive Chef at the resort – Chef Eric Pellen.
Hailing from Brittany in the west of France, Eric has 28 years of culinary experience after beginning his career at the Michelin star restaurant Relais & Chateaux.
Eric is no stranger to InterContinental - in 2002 Eric began a 9-year association with the brand when he visited the Pyramids and decided to stay for 6 years, enjoying the beauty and hidden places of Egypt while working at Semiramis InterContinental Hotel, overseeing the hotel’s French restaurant there. In 2008, he moved to Korea where he led the culinary team as Executive Sous Chef at the Grand InterContinental Hotel in Seoul, and from Korea, he moved to Oman to work at the Al Bustan Palace InterContinental Hotel.
Aside from InterContinental Eric has also enjoyed successful stints in Doha where he led the culinary team for the pre-opening of the St Regis Hotel, a further two years in Jakarta at the Four Seasons Hotel, before returning to Egypt where he led the post-opening team at the Royal Maxim Kempinsky.
Eric is passionate about both cooking and plating, and has a relentless pursuit for culinary perfection. His style of cuisine is unpretentious but elegant with an emphasis on French gastronomy and locally grown products, with a twist of Middle Eastern flair.
