A GREENER STAY

A GREEN JOURNEY AWAITS

At InterContinental Phu Quoc Long Beach Resort, we believe that sustainability tomorrow starts with accountability today. Therefore, we continuously monitor our real-time performance through IHG Green Engage and make swift adjustments to the following recommendations.

As part of our commitment to sustainable operations and active response to global climate threats, the resort applies IHG Green Engage initiatives towards responsible consumption and conservation of resources and encourages guests, team members and our local partners to embrace natural heritage and preserve Phu Quoc's ecosystem.

PLASTIC REPLACEMENT PROGRAM

We aim to reduce, reuse and recycle solid waste by implementing an on-property sorting and recycling program and choosing products that are durable, repairable or can be upcycled. All team members have been trained in recycling best practices and empowered to suggest sustainable improvements.

Instead of single-use plastic, we found eco-friendly alternatives from recycled paper, rice straws, and wood. We have been working with local businesses to responsibly produce packaging, room keys, cocktail straws, and other items.

EVERY DROP COUNTS

We are committed to minimising water consumption in all areas of the resort and also adopted the WHO guidelines for water quality to ensure that Water Safety Plans are being implemented and effective by a modern water treatment system.

Another important area of conservation is water efficiency in landscape design where we prioritise native species that are drought tolerant, 100% recycled water for landscaping to irrigate external landscapes and pressure-compensated bubblers alongside in-line drip irrigation systems installed with automatic controllers.

CARBON REDUCTION PROGRAM

We strive to create a positive impact and reduce fossil fuel usage by installing a solar-powered water heater and lowering the carbon intensity of operations by reducing the amount of energy used for different processes and activities.

To further reduce fossil fuel usage, we have also localised our supply chain. By buying locally whenever possible and sourcing produce from Vietnam’s businesses, we support local communities as well as offer an authentic experience.

ENERGY SAVING ALTERNATIVES

We make it easier for you to be a more responsible traveller by trying to reduce our energy consumption by 6% by 2025. To achieve that, we replaced all incandescent bulbs with LEDs, which use less energy and last longer; we installed occupancy sensors in the offices and guestrooms as part of our advanced smart energy management systems that use sensors to detect empty rooms and reduce energy usage.

To ensure we stay on track with our sustainability goals, the Green Team conducts annual energy checks. These help us determine our programs' effectiveness and alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Garden-to-Table Freshness

With sustainable tourism in mind, we are actively developing environmentally friendly facilities within the resort’s landscape. Hidden among our lush greenery is a vibrant herb garden, brimming with a variety of fruits, plants, and vegetables—from lettuce and herbs to butterfly pea and more. These home-grown produce will soon be harvested and transformed into culinary masterpieces, served directly to our beloved guests. This garden marks the beginning of a unique gastronomy journey, specially curated by our chefs.
